Afghan Corruption and Graft Hampers U.S. Efforts

Afghan corruption and graft have severely hampered the efforts of the United States to defeat the Taliban and build government institutions in Afghanistan.  President Karzai, of course, is the principal culprit.  He provides protection to his political cronies who have been able to get rich on the billions of dollars that have been pumped into the government coffers of Afghanistan.
