Corruption Number One Issue in Afghanistan

A columnist, Doyle McManus of the Los Angeles Times, argues that corruption is the number one recruiting tool for the Taliban. Government corruption ". . . makes it easier for insurgent movements to win support among aggrieved citizens". Relatively few Afghans support the Taliban, according to opinion polls, yet the Taliban is still able to attract recruits every year.
