The Longest War. The Aspen Institute recently held a panel discussion about the war in Afghanistan. Now in its 16th year, the war in Afghanistan shows no sign of ending. If anything, the Taliban are resurgent. Meanwhile, al Qaeda and ISIS remain active in Afghanistan.
