The Marines have handed over
Camp Leatherneck to the Afghan National Army. Only a few hundred Marines remain to do the final packing . . . and they too, will soon depart. What was once a sprawling base is a ghost town. A recently posted account of the Marines time in
Helmand province can be found in
"Marines leave Afghanistan after tough years",
Stars and Stripes, October 27, 2014.
