Al-Qaeda Alive and Well in Afghanistan and Pakistan

An interesting and informative piece on al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan by Michael Kugelman. While the White House continues its story-line, developed during Obama's re-election campaign, that al-Qaeda poses a vastly diminished threat in Afghanistan - reality is providing us with a different perspective.  Although various leaders of al-Qaeda have been killed over the years (many by drone attacks based out of Afghanistan) the group is still very operational.
