A U.S. supported program to establish Afghan local police forces in remote villages will be headed up by U.S. Army Special Forces teams. To objective is to establish a force of almost 10,000. It is hoped that the program will be in 900 villages by March 2011. General Petraeus has compared the program to a community watch with AK-47s. Read more in
